i am not quite sure when i decided to really pursue creating as more than just a hobby, although i do know that the biggest factor in my desire/capacity of abilities was having a family that encouraged and never thought to discourage anything related to art and/or creation....
i think i am most inspired by the earth.... the dirt, the trees, the worms, the leaves, the snails, the scents, the colors, the wet, and the dry, it's storms, it's stones, it's tenacity, and peace.... it's people and the amazing music, art, and memories that they create....
i try to spend as much time in it, under it, and amidst it as possible....

at 27 years old, in may of 2002 i opened the first franchise of a fantastic small business based in florida- 'white buffalo', moving about 700 miles away from home to set up shop in chapel hill, nc was the first of many challenges! this shop was a kiosk in the center of an extremely nice mall with stores like nordstrom, coach, etc... but my brain began the conceptualization of a gorgeous
shop {with walls!} that enticed all of the senses with 'beautiful things for
beautiful beings' and was centered around the earthly elements- four distinctly 'elemental' areas that would be defined by color and feeling- fire, earth, air, and water, and i gave myself a '5 year goal'
upon first visiting asheville, i felt immediately that this was a place i could put down some roots, and i visited at least once each year allowing my affinity to grow and taking as many photos as possible to remember it by!
in the meantime, i hired an incredible little lady, by the name of donnaleta twist and we became fast friends!
one summer day in 2006 while in the spirit of visualization and postulation we (donna and myself) decided to make an 'asheville plan'- we would move here, become business partners, and do so by the beginning of 2007!.... key in this plan- having donna visit just once so that she too would fall in love!

sure enough with a lot of help from friends, the plan happened (just a couple of months after donnaleta's first ever trip here!)
so with special thanks to paul, alex, and keith, our baby- 'elementality' was born on january 24th, 2007! (just 19 days after moving ourselves and our 3 large dogs here.... ask us about that move.... whew!)
